The unusual tale of how an unexpected letter from a retired Las Vegas casino pit-boss led to his meeting Joseph Schillinger’s reclusive widow and the eventual gift of Joseph Schillinger’s unpublished writings to the Peabody Institute’s Arthur Friedheim Library. Quist will also outline the remarkable career of Schillinger’s widow, Frances Schillinger Shaw who modeled for Edward Steichen, danced in the Ziegfield Follies and worked with the artist and writer Rockwell Kent. Finally, he will present an updated version of Schillinger’s catalog and take note of recent publications of his music.Rights reserved
